About: An independent, family run freehouse supporting CAMRA local ale which was extensively refurbished and re-energised in 2012 to become a bright welcoming place to eat and drink. There’s a large, grand stone feature fireplace to the left of the main entrance and pool table, dartboard and domino tables. At the rear there is a large sun trap of a beer garden that is tiered over a number of levels which sits under the imposing Castleberg Crag. The three changing beers (four in spring and summer) tend to be from Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire and one beer brewed by one of the Settle breweries is always available. Good value food is served 12pm-8pm everyday. It was voted local Pub of the Season Winter 2015/16. Bingo quiz  is the first Monday evening of the month, weekly in summer. It is located only 5 minutes’ walk from Settle Railway station (the start of the famous ‘Settle to Carlisle Line’) which runs through some of the most stunning scenery in the country.

Our View of the Pub: A cosy and welcoming pub in the heart of Settle, serving a number of real-ales and a wide selection gins (including Brockmans to keep Jane happy). We always try and have a few drinks here when we are in Settle either sitting in front of the grand fire place in the main bar area and on a warm sunny day we have spent many an afternoon soaking up the sun in the superb beer garden at the rear. Food is not bad either and good value for money. Well worth a visit if you are out and about in Settle.
